Comfort. Style. Value.
These are the principles Haband was both founded on and has embraced for almost a century. It all started in 1925, with just $50 and a few pieces of silk...
Haband was founded in Paterson, New Jersey by childhood friends Max Habernickel Sr. and John Anderson, who combined their last names to create the company name: Haband. Max Habernickel worked in Paterson's famed silk industry, then known as the "Silk Capital of the World." He collected leftover silk fabric and began manufacturing them into ties. John Anderson, who worked at a local bank, joined with Habernickel selling those ties door-to-door to fellow bankers in the area.
From those humble beginnings, and a $25 investment from each man, grew a thriving business — which really took off when Habernickel got the idea to photograph the ties and create "advertisements" to mail to banks far out of the reach of his bicycle route. Soon the business was off and running!
In 1957, the two-man leadership team, brought on Habernickel's son, Duke, to join Haband full time, subsequently expanding its offerings to include a full line of casual and dress menswear and eventually handing Duke the reins as President of the company. By 1968, Haband went from a partnership to a corporation when Duke bought Mr. Anderson's interest in the business.
As Haband continued to grow, a complete line of women's fashions was introduced in 1983, offering the same focus on comfortable style at a great value. Today, Haband is a favorite shopping destination to 1.4 million customers every year, all across the nation… and still growing!
