Assistant Buyer, Ladieswear
Reports to: Buyer
Position located in Oakland, NJ

Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist and support the Buyer with the development of the product line. This person will work closely with the Buyer on improving the profitability of the line by increasing yield and decreasing expenses and by implementing quality standards.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

• Work closely with buyer to select product and negotiate buys
• Issues purchase orders, prepare letters of credit request forms if needed
• Shop the market to identify current and emerging trends
• Present the new line (fall or spring) with the buyer to company executives with new merchandise that will be top sellers for the upcoming season
• Work closely with buyer on planning and placing the initial order
• Attend and participate in planning meetings with executives, buyers, inventory control, art directors and copy team
• Analyze and track weekly and annual sales to assess potential backorder issues
• Make recommendations regarding merchandise overages, shortages, and back orders
• Collaborate with manufacturers and design teams on private label product to ensure adherence to specs; oversee fit of pre-production merchandise
• Request samples, and follows up on production schedules with vendors
• Reviews advertising boards with buyer
• Prepares and maintains control of samples for initial advertising meeting, fit sessions, and photo shoots
• On occasion, may visit distribution center to check on quality issues and investigate any problems with product; travel to vendors, showrooms and trade shows
• Interacts with inventory control to ensure proper lines of communications and to review open to buys
• Work with quality control team to ensure accurate fit, care labels, and fabric content is correct
• Other duties as assigned

Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) with a major in Fashion Merchandising or other related field, including coursework in Math, Economics, Statistics or other analytic disciplines from a four-year college or university; or five years merchandising experience in the direct marketing industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Copywriter
Reports to: Copy Chief
Position located in Oakland, NJ

Position Summary:
Writes and conceptualizes creative, compelling, entertaining and original copy for direct mail pieces and catalog

Essential Position Responsibilities:

• Collaborates with artists and merchants to create clear, engaging and relevant advertising copy
• Maintains the unique voice of the Haband brand
• Works with graphic designers to ensure the copy aligns with art and graphics
• Balances multiple mailings with catalog while meeting all deadlines
• Proofreads and edits ads, sales letters and packaging
• Brainstorms fresh ideas with unique promotions and graphic approaches
• Occasionally writes emails, sales letters, post cards and various other collateral

Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

• College degree in English, Advertising/Communications, Fashion Merchandising or related field
• 5+ years experience in retail or direct mail
